Sand & Sky has taken Instagram by storm the past few weeks with their Australian Pink Clay Face mask. However, what I want to know is, does it even work?

- Detoxify + Brighten in only 10 minutes.
- Tightens pores and boost radiance.
- Protect against damage caused by pollution.
- No nasties, not tested on animals.
- Stimulates collagen
Ingredients
Now be honest how often would you check a products ingredients list? Hardly ever am I right?Well now you'll see why you should! Being someone who prefers natural products with minimal chemicals in the ingredients list, this facemask is already ticking a lot of boxes for me!
Below is the full ingredients list as well as explanations of what they actually do.
(Side note -If you ever want to get a decent idea about a product before you use it, you should always check the ingredient list to see what exactly your getting for your money!)
- Kaolin (Australian Clay) - Cleanses the skin, drawing out impurities and pollutants.
- Water
- Benonite - acts like a magnet in our bodies, pulling out toxins.
- Aloe Vera leaf juice + Pomegranate - Soothes and moisturises the skin, shrinks pores & boosts collagen.
- Old Mans Weed + Liquorice + Vitamin A - targets pigmentation and cellular turnover - (gives skin that glowy look.)
- Vitamin E - blocks free radicals, also prevents aging.
- Kelp - high in minerals, iodine and antioxidants & helps skin retain moisture.
- Witch Hazel - natural astringent, used to control oily skin.
- Bark Extract - natural anti inflammatory.
- Mangosteen + Kakadu Plum- fights free radicals & promotes radiant skin.
- Rosemary - powerful disinfectant combats spots and hyperpigmentation.
- Phenoxyethanol, - disinfectant (used in cosmetics as a preservative)
- Dehydroacetic Acid -A fungicide and bactericide used as a preservative in cosmetics.
- Lactic Acid - helps prevent breakouts and the appearance of wrinkles
- Parfum - AKA perfume however is labeled with a '*' in the ingredients list as being 'Natural'.
- Glycerin - used to help skin seal in moisture.
- Benzyl Alcohol, A bacteriostatic preservative.
- Limonene - Natural scent found in citrus fruits.
As you can see the ingredients list is extremely promising with an abundance of brilliant natural ingredients. I have changed the colour of the preservatives in the list to highlight the fact there are only three in the entire product, this is very understandable as they will prevent the face mask from going foul due to the amount of natural ingredients. I'm not to bothered that the mask has some preservatives, as I'm sure you will agree you wouldn't be too impressed if you spent £39.90 on a Facemask and you didn't even get to use it all before it went foul, would you? ☝
Packaging
I absolutely love the packaging! The face mask comes in a bright pink box, inside is a bright blue tub which contains the actual mask. I was honestly surprised with the quality of the packaging, the jar isn't your typical plastic, instead it's a sturdy ceramic glass jar making it feel a lot more chic!Onto the brush, what a brilliant idea! I'm always using an old foundation brush to apply facemasks which never really works the best, as it's typically to chunky (lazy way of not wanting to dirty my hands...)
The size of this one is perfect!! I'm able to apply to all areas of my face precisely without getting it all over my hair - my weekly struggle...
The tub contains 60g of product therefore I'm hoping to get atleast 7/8 full face applications from it!
My Thoughts
The application of the Sand&Sky Mask is very nice, it applies very smoothly and is a nice creamy consistency which I really like. This is compared to other clay masks I've tried that are very dry and hard to apply evenly.Once the pink face mask is applied it starts drying very quickly to a white colour, as it drys you can certainly see and feel it tightening.
I always think you can really tell if a face mask is good quality, if you can see little dark dots forming where the mask is pulling out congestion. Within a few minutes the Pink Clay Mask had started sucking out all the gunk from my face especially the congested areas of my chin, nose and forehead, and lots of little black dots appeared.
The mask dries within 10 minutes, afterwards you simply remove it using warm water, then patting your face dry with a towel.
Instant Results
My skin after the mask was visibly brighter and my pores had shrunk significantly, even better my blackheads had decreased (halleluyah!!) As you can see from the pictures below my skin is glowinggggg 😍

Because I was so impressed with the mask, I didn't want to wreck the glow by apply foundation on top afterwards! So off I went to a work meeting and out for dinner with nothing, and did I care? Naaaaa♛I have combination skin so I expected by the time I got home I would have an oily t-zone, buttttt I didn't! I must admit this is one of my favourite things about the mask that after one use it really controlled my oily skin.
I think the mask would be a terrific addition to a morning skincare routine, as it would make skin glowy and clear looking all day!
Before & After |
I give the Facemask 9/10 I absolutely love it!! It leaves skin looking fresh and glowy, it doesn't cause me to break out in the days after using it, it also doesn't irritate my skin like other clay masks have in the past! Sadly my only reason for not giving 10/10 is the price, it means I wouldn't use this as a weekly face mask, just because I'd want to save it for special occasions when I want my skin to look on fleeekkkkk!
