Amsterdam Travel Guide

"The City of Freedom"

Helllooo, so I'm just back from Amsterdam this week, so have a nice little blog post on the places we went and the best bits! Enjoy x

"The Luxury Canal Tour"

AKA the wine cheese and loads of cushions boat...

Costing €15 each the Luxury Canal Tour takes you on an hour-long trip through the canals showing you the main attractions of the City and some background history on the different parts. Fully equipped with various wines and drinks you can sit back on the pillow chairs with a glass of wine in one hand and a box of cheese in the other and feeling very chilled and ironically posh as you sail around.

"Vondelpark"

Bring a picnic! Lots of people out and about relaxing and taking in the views. If you have a bike the park offers numerous cycling tracks not to mention its huge so if you love cycling it’s a good shout!

"Artis Zoo Amsterdam"

Everywhere we go, we always make it a must to go to the zoo. The Artis Zoo costs 21.50 per person plus + €2 for a map of the zoo, (highly recommend getting a map, you'll get lost without it!) I think it’s fair to say we both thought it was the best zoo we've been to yet. I must admit the weather probably was a key part of the reason, hitting a nice 21 degree on the day. Something I loved about the Zoo was the little parks and areas of grass throughout it so you could lie about and chill in the sun for a while then get up and wander onwards when you like.

"Canal Peddle Boat"

After trying and failing before I left to get my hands on some Ann Frank tickets we decided to try our luck at queuing outside the museum... well that was the plan up until we seen the length of the queue outside it.
Instead we seen the hire sign for Peddle Boats and decided to try our luck at that instead.

At 9 for 1 hour the Peddle Boats are very good value for money considering everything in Amsterdam is pretty expensive. This was by far one of the nicest things to do, its very relaxing peddling through the canals with the sun shining going at our own leisurely pace. (Until big canal boats are coming from every directing around you and you panic a little...)

Rijksmuseum

"Heineken Experience"

Now I am not a beer fan what so ever but when Heineken is sold in literally every shop and even at the zoo it soon becomes hard not to try some. The Heineken experience is not your typical historical tour, yes it has all the facts and history behind the beer but your given the option to skip that and get to the exciting parts if you prefer. Since I'm a little history freak of course I wanted to hear the entire tour but once that’s over your taken through a modern maze of bottle art, cool little rooms, and different interactive games before getting to the the bar which looks like a nightclub venue were your pints are waiting for you.

"The Red Light District"

I don't have many pictures of here, mostly due to the fact it was at night and I didn't really bother bringing my camera and, they have a very strict no picture policy of window girls and since there's pretty much a window in every corner, you don't want to be getting something in the background by accident that’s not appropriate...
If anyone's looking for a decent night out in Amsterdam, I highly recommend the Ultimate Party Amsterdam Pub Crawl. It's very well organised and great value for money!

Maybe it’s the relaxed vibe or the pretty canals you could sit by all day and look on, or even the pastry shops that make you hungry every 5 minutes... All I can say is, Amsterdam is one of those places I'd gladly say I'd go back to over and over again and return home still wanting more.
